The South Unsinkables

Our Dragon Boat team works closely with “The Unsinkables” team based in Salem, OR. The primary focus of the group is to support those affected by cancer, while creating a fun team-atmosphere. The sport of Dragon Boating originated in China thousands of years ago. Since its creation, the sport has only grown in popularity across continents. The sport teaches strong teamwork skills, and empowers people to work together mentally and physically to achieve a common goal.

The Benefits

Dragon Boating can be very therapeutic as a low-impact sport for those who have been affected by cancer. Find your inner warrior on the water, with other survivors - while you share the task of simply moving the boat together in complete sync. Surrounded by nature and all the beauty that is involved.

Races And Practices

Dragon Boat practice is held at least once a week, depending on member availability. The goal of practice is to improve on team member’s skills and to get together with other awesome people! We have access to a few indoor and outdoor pools in the Eugene area to hold paddling practices, in lieu of the availability of boats in the water.

We sign up for races based on team member’s availability. We do our best to participate in races that are close to home, or are within carpool distance. Races and practices are not mandatory.
